Atommash has shipped equipment for the first reactor of the "Akkuyu" NPP

The Volgodonsk Branch of JSC "AEM-technology" (part of the machine-building division of Rosatom - Atomenergomash) manufactured and shipped the internals of the first nuclear reactor for Power Unit No.1 of the "Akkuyu" NPP under construction in the Republic of Turkey.

The Internals include an 11-meter Core Barrel, a Core baffle and Protective Tubes Unit. The total weight of the Internals is over 210 tonnes.

From the site of the Volgodonsk Branch of AEM-technology, the equipment was shipped by motor vehicle to the plant's special berth. The items were then loaded onto a barge using a 650-ton gantry crane and shipped to the "Akkuyu" NPP construction site. The commercial waterway will be about 3,000 km.

The Reactor is a vertical cylindrical vessel with an elliptical bottom, inside which the core and internals are located. The top of the Reactor is hermetically sealed with a Cover using the main joint studs.

"Akkuyu" NPP is the first nuclear power plant under construction in the Republic of Turkey. The Akkuyu NPP project includes four power units with Russian design VVER reactors of generation 3+. The capacity of each NPP power unit will be 1200 MW. To date, the project is fully funded by the Russian side. The construction of the Akkuyu NPP is the first project in the global nuclear industry, implemented according to the "Build-Own-Operate" model.
