SCERI JSC (is a part of Atomenergomash JSC, which is Rosatom’s machine-building division) entered into a contract for supply of equipment for handling LRS and LRW for power units 1 and 2 of Rooppur NPP (Bangladesh). Atomstroyexport JSC (JSC ASE EC), Prime contractor of construction of Rooppur NPP, is Customer.
In framework of the contract signed, people from SCERI JSC have to design, manufacture and supply three Drain water treatment plants, three Deep evaporation plants, two Cementation plants, two Conditioning plants, two Intermediary storage plants, WIR (waste ion resins) loading and unloading units, container for WIR transportation.
The finished process equipment should be supplied to the nuclear power plant by the beginning of Q3 2023. The contract also envisages that people from SCERI JSC will attend pre-commissioning works.
Aleksandr Cheperanov, SCERI JSC Director General: “It is a large-scale and very critical order for SCERI JSC. And the choice of our institute as a designer and supplier of the process equipment for liquid radioactive waste handling is absolutely justified. For many years, SCERI JSC is specializing in design and manufacture of efficient safe equipment for nuclear waste handling. Plants which have been designed by our engineers are operated on many Russian nuclear power plants and give a splendid account of themselves.
Aleksey Deriy, JSC ASE EC Vice-President – Director of the project of Rooppur NPP construction: “We know SCERI JSC as a safe partner developing high-quality equipment. At present, erection of the NPP in Bangladesh is in the active stage, buildings are erected and installation of the main equipment on two power units is performed. For sure, this contract will contribute to fulfillment of our obligations to Customer of Rooppur NPP – manufacture and installation of the equipment will be realized exactly in time.”
It is worth noting that it is not the first large contract for designing and supply of equipment for Rooppur NPP. In 2019 a contract was signed for designing, manufacture and supply of a package of equipment for handling of materials and components not subject to subsequent use, for power unit 1 of Rooppur NPP. Within fulfilling this contract, the first lot of process equipment is being prepared in SCERI JSC for shipment.
